Inverse medium scattering for three-dimensional time harmonic Maxwell equations

چکیده
A continuation method is developed for solving the inverse medium scattering problem of time harmonic Maxwell equations in R3. By using multifrequency scattering data, our reconstruction algorithm first employs the Born approximation for an initial guess and proceeds via recursive linearization on the wavenumber k. At each linearization step, one forward and one adjoint state of the Maxwell equations are solved. Numerical examples are also presented and discussed. A Uniqueness Theorem for an Inverse Electromagnetic Scattering Problem in Inhomogeneous Anisotropic Media
We show that the support of a (possibly) coated anisotropic medium is uniquely determined by the electric far-field patterns corresponding to incident time-harmonic electromagnetic plane waves with arbitrary polarization and direction. Our proof avoids the use of a fundamental solution to Maxwell’s equations in an anisotropic medium and instead relies on the well-posedness and regularity proper...
متن کاملAn inverse electromagnetic scattering problem for periodic chiral structures
In this paper, we study the reconstruction of the chirality admittance of periodic chiral structures. The media is homogeneous and the structure is periodic in one direction and invariant in another direction. The electromagnetic fields inside the chiral medium are governed by Maxwell equations together with the Drude-Born-Fedorov equations. We simplify the problem to a two-dimensional inverse ...
متن کاملNumerical solution of an inverse medium scattering problem for Maxwell's Equations at fixed frequency
Consider a time-harmonic electromagnetic plane wave incident on a medium enclosed by a bounded domain in R. In this paper, well-posedness of the variational problem for the direct scattering is examined. An energy estimate for the scattered field is obtained on which the Born approximation is based. A regularized recursive linearization method for the inverse medium scattering, which reconstruc...
متن کاملON MAXWELL'S STRESS FUNCTIONS FOR SOLVING THREE DIMENSIONAL ELASTICITY PROBLEMS IN THE THEORY OF ELASTICITY
The governing equations of three dimensional elasticity problems include the six Beltrami-Michell stress compatibility equations, the three differential equations of equilibrium, and the six material constitutive relations; and these are usually solved subject to the boundary conditions. The system of fifteen differential equations is usually difficult to solve, and simplified methods are usual...
متن کاملA Survey of Open Cavity Scattering Problems
This paper gives a brief survey of recent developments on mathematical modeling and analysis of the open cavity scattering problems, which arise in diverse scientific areas and have significant industrial and military applications. The scattering problems are studied for the two-dimensional Helmholtz equation corresponding to the transverse magnetic or electric polarization, and the three-dimen...
